Roll of Honor: Dash, Inventor Extraordinaire

Debuting in Arcane Rising on March 27, 2020, Dash, Inventor Extraordinaire offered players an exciting new deckbuilding challenge. She granted access to an aggro build with consistent go again but a restricted card-pool, or a slow set-up plan with a consistent path to victory. Either way, it appealed greatly to the bright sparks of the Flesh and Blood world, who began tinkering with her immediately.

The power of Teklo Plasma Pistol combined with Induction Chamber very quickly established itself as a dominant meta threat. Able to defend heavily with a full suite of defense reactions, and eventually grinding the opponent out with the inevitable force of efficient pistol shots, "Gun Control" as it was known in New Zealand at the time, was the deck to beat. The deck soon evolved to beat the mirror match, utilising the infamous combo of High Octane and Tome of Fyendal to generate multiple action points, draw extra cards, and unleash a barrage of pistol shots to overtake the game.

As Flesh and Blood marched forward, powerful new strategies emerged to rule the metagame, but Dash would always show up as a fringe contender, whether it was a Plasma Purifier-powered answer to fatigue, or a Hanabi Blaster inspired boost plan to combat overly aggressive decks. Meanwhile, the old fashioned control build would remain a fan favourite staple for years to come, constantly incrementally upgrading itself with each new seat release that contained a generic blue card that defended for 3.

Dash steadily climbed the leaderboard, but throughout 2024, when she was well into the 900's, she hit a bump in the road. The other heroes had wised up to her tricks, and she could not muster up enough gas to push over the finish line. Inches away from achieving Living Legend, but falling short of enough 'oomph' to consistently claim the points to do so from the broad field of modern heroes with diverse strategies, Dash fell to the wayside. Once the ruler of the metagame, now a tired tinkerer stuck on the side of the road. Each week had the potential for Dash to make that final push, and each week she remained stationary, watching the world go by.

But the modern age of Flesh and Blood couldn't keep this plucky spark down. Dedicated fans continued to workshop her for each new metagame, trying out a variety of different tech cards to hopefully catch the meta off guard. When 2025 National Championship season finally rolled around, the world watched with baited breath to see if she would cross the finish line. And with a fresh meta scrambling with different heroes, Dash's reliable consistency finally came through for her.

Dash, Inventor Extraordinaire officially reached Living Legend status in Classic Constructed on July 11, 2025—more than 5 years from her debut.
